Yesterday I started out with the proper intentions. I ate a qualifying breakfast. Then I got to work. I cut apples for the kids and, of course, had to try a piece to make sure they were good. Boy, were they ever. I continued to eat enough other pieces to equal an entire apple. Since I'd already ruined the diet that day I used the typical excuse of, "Well, I already blew my diet so I may as well eat some more!" I proceeded to have a piece of cornbread and some tuna salad (with ELBOW NOODLES, nonetheless) for lunch. I won't go into the gory details of what I ate the rest of the evening... So imagine my surprise, and shortly after, angst, to discover that the scale finally moved again that night when I weighed myself. I berated myself for having strayed. (But only for a few minutes.) I swear, that morning I had weighed myself and found that the scale still hadn't budged from the last weigh in! Even more surprising than that couple of pounds dropping? I looked forward to returning to low-carb and sugar-free this morning. There's something about a cheat day that feels so out of control to me that by the end of the day I begin to look forward to going back to... dare I say this... normal.
